We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Health, Safety and Site Risk Specialist.  The successful candidate for this position will spend the majority of their time managing occupational health and safety matters, This position reports to the Director, Global EHS with a dotted line to the Country HR Manager.

 

What you’ll do

  • Manage all aspects of the local H&S program within OH&S Act, ISO 45001, and our standards including:
    • Developing and administering plant policies/procedures
    • Co-chairing of JHSC and driving the internal responsibility system
    • Proactively identifying risks and providing leadership to investigations into H&S related issues and incidents
    • Approving new equipment and processes and ensuring application of safety standards
    • Developing and administering all local H&S training material
    • Coordinate and improve monthly H&S talks
  • Manage the Early and Safe Return to Work Program for all WSIB related injuries by:
    • Maintaining a robust work accommodation program
    • Lead plant efforts to reduce repetitive strain injuries
    • Working with the part time Occupational Nurse to coordinate PDAs, IMEs, FAEs etc.
  • Represent Canada in the Global H&S organization, collaborating and sharing best practices across locations and supporting Global H&S projects

 

What you’ll bring

  • Degree and/or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • 3+ years of experience in Health and Safety preferably in a manufacturing and unionized setting
  • CRSP certified or eligible
  • Knowledge of applicable government legislation
  • Experience with the following areas is highly preferred: machine safety, risk assessments, ergonomics, facility risk management, accident investigation and root cause analysis
