Vessel Detailing & Bottom Paint Technician

Portland, Maine

We are looking for adetail-oriented Vessel Detailing & Bottom Paint Technician to join our yard team. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in producing professional finishes and high-quality prep work on a wide range of vessels.

Our technicians play a critical role in maintaining the appearance, protection, and performance of the boats that pass through our yard. If you enjoy working around boats, take pride in your craftsmanship, and want steady work in a professional marine service environment, we want to hear from you.

Here, you’ll work alongside a skilled team in one of Maine’s most active full-service boatyards.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform bottom preparation and anti-fouling paint applications on vessels of various sizes

  • Sand, prep, mask, and apply bottom paints and barrier coats according to manufacturer standards

  • Complete full vessel detailing, including washing, compounding, polishing, and waxing hulls and topsides

  • Clean decks, stainless, and cockpit areas to restore and maintain vessel appearance

  • Assist with seasonal work including spring commissioning and fall haul-out preparation

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace

  • Work efficiently while maintaining the high-quality finish our customers expect

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Experience with marine detailing, sanding, prep work, or bottom painting preferred (training available for the right candidate)

  • Comfortable working outdoors and around vessels stored on stands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically active work throughout the day

  • Valid driver’s license

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time position: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
