We are currently seeking a motivated team member to join our Quality Team take responsibility in varied duties as follows:

Job Overview
The Quality Technician, under the direction of the Quality Team Leader, is responsible for providing support to the quality, production and production control departments in the areas of supplier management, monitoring of process controls, product quality, shipping/receiving, production scheduling, production planning and customer satisfaction while supporting the policies and standard operating procedures of Howa Canada Manufacturing.

Position Overview: 

Support the management and improvement of the Quality Department and business management system. 

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with Quality Standards for the facility in accordance with Howa Canada, Honda and Toyota Quality systems.
  • Assist with the Quality Auditing process, supply chain audits, process audits and ISO audits.
  • Assist with development and management of corrective action, process improvement and auditing projects
  • Assist with management of Document Control process including managing documents, forms and work instructions and working with other departments and assisting them with the creation and maintenance of their departmental policies and procedures in conformance with the Quality Management System.
  • Participate in all TPS (Kaizen) initiatives related to the Quality processes ensuring efficiency and effectiveness within Quality Dept.
  • Must have a clear understanding of the compliance requirements, collecting objective evidence and writing up audit reports ensuring the quality management system is operating effectively.
  • Responsible for solving problems where standardization should exist, but may not be operating effectively. Using process mapping techniques, lean or Six Sigma process improvement methodology is essential to reducing waste and effective in the Quality role. A delicate balance exist between resolving problems and identifying those situations that require management intervention for a solution. Good political judgment is required where quality and compliance are concerned.
  • The Quality Technician will be involved in teams and meetings. Management reviews, supplier reviews, corrective action reviews, process improvement teams, audits, customer visits and strategy discussions.
  • The Quality Technician will be responsible for all quality matters including; Product specifications, supplier requirements, testing, inspections, part verification, equipment calibration, corrective actions, non-conformances, benchmarking, and acts as the voice of the customer.
  • Ensure safety policies and procedures are adhered to and participate in continuous improvement.

 QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:  (Preferred)

  • Completion of ISO 9001 Audit Certification
  • Completed AIAG core tools course
  • Document Control Administration
  • Sound mathematical skills
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to think logically and methodically
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal, communication skills
  • Supervisory and leadership skills
  • Decision making ability
  • Ability to work independently and proactively

Physical and Environmental Requirements: 

  • Walking / Standing for prolonged periods.
  • Lifting (40 lbs)
  • Ability to distinguish slight variances in color for color evaluation.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Quality Management Certification and/or 2+ years Quality Leadership experience within automotive industry.

Other Requirements: 

Flexibility to support afternoons shift Quality Inspectors for vacation and sickness, and/or overtime shift as required.

Compensation will be based on qualifications and work experience.
