Sarnia is the location of our headquarters in Canada with a Global Research & Development centre for Butyl Rubber located in London, Ontario. Focused on the production of synthetic rubber, the Sarnia facility is a major supplier to both domestic and international markets and employs over 525 employees.
The Chief Operating Engineer will ensure Sarnia Site Operations are compliant with the regulations as per the Technical Standards and Safety Act (TSSA). Provide oversight and direction to operate and maintain the Site Utility Distribution Systems. Monitor and forecast the Site energy consumption.
- Maintain pertinent records in compliance with TSSA, including equipment log books, Plant Registration, Certificate database, operational & maintenance records
- Direct the Shift Engineers/Operators in their duties for the safe operation of the plant as it pertains to the Operating Engineers Act.
- Technical liaison with Utility suppliers & customers.
- Acts as the Site Energy Officer.
Education: minimum 2nd Class Operating Engineers Certificate required
Experience: demonstrated leadership with minimum 10 years relevant experience working in a unionized industrial environment required.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Personal Characteristics: Comprehensive understanding of the Operating Engineers Act, excellent communication skills, advanced computer skills (including SAP, MS Office, Lotus Notes and Internet Explorer), self starter who initiates action.
