We are one of the largest custom Store Fixtures fabrication facilities in North America.  Our 130,000 square foot manufacturing operation is vertically integrated from veneer through to machining, assembly and finishing.  We are now looking to hire a full time CNC Programmer for our location in Orangeville, ON.

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to determine the sequence of shaping operations, proper machining techniques, tooling and part fixtures.  Analyzes projects, drawings, blueprints and other design data, performs all the necessary calculations.  Writes programs or modify existing programs then store them on a company database.  After programming, ensure that the machines and programs operate correctly and that products meet specifications.  This work includes CAD blueprints or Solid Models, determining where to cut, and other calculations.


  • Initiate, develop and maintain CNC programs to support a zero defect machining operations environment
  • Wood Routers & Metal Laser
  • Nest parts to minimize material waste
  • Determines specifications or procedures for tooling set-up, machine operation feed rates, work piece dimensions, or numerical control sequences, using blueprints, instructions, material, and machine knowledge
  • Extracts information from detailed drawings to create programs
  • Design and/or order special tools required
  • Ensure through the process, all customer specific job requirements are met on new product and repeat jobs
  • Loads control media and programs in the machine controller or enter commands to retrieve programmed instructions
  • Catalog/Organize all programs/set-ups in database
  • Work closely with the Shop Floor, Engineering and other internal departments
  • Provides copies of part drawings and other requisite information to machinists
  • Updates software regularly to match configuration with shop machining centers
  • Ensures that machines are used in the most efficient manner to obtain maximum output
  • Monitors tool wear patterns and operator tool usage patterns
  • Observe operation of machine on a trial run to prove programmed instructions and keep accurate records of all parts produced


  • Minimum of five (5) years on the job experience with millwork / metal manufacturing
  • Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering is considered an asset but not necessary
  • Wood & Metal background
  • Solid understanding of CAD/CAM preferred experience in Mastercam
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor / SolidWorks / ProE or similar modeling software
  • Knowledge of Fanuc controls / G-code experience an asset
  • Good mathematical calculations (trigonometry) required
  • Capable of working under pressure and coordinate numerous activities
  • Effective communication skills both written and oral
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to participate in a team environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
