A leading financial transaction processor based in Calgary is aggressively expanding its business across Canada and abroad. We currently require a Manager of Infrastructure. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who are excited to work in a fast-paced environment.

As a Manager - Infrastructure, you are expected to:

  • Lead a team of intermediate and junior system engineers
  • Take charge in the design of new network solutions, including both voice and data
  • Plan and manage upgrades and new deployments
  • Work closely with the application development team to ensure best performance of all in-house systems
  • Proactively define and implement monitoring strategies to ensure high network/system availability
  • Provide routine software and hardware maintenance and operational support for application, OS and third party software
  • Lead all elements of hands-on systems administration, including definition and implementation of processes and policies
  • Establish and maintain daily system / application activity logs
  • Perform ongoing system analysis to ensure adequate system capacity and performance
  • Provide system / server installation, configuration, and performance tuning where appropriate and necessary
  • Ensure appropriate application and system data is being backed up as required
  • Ensure network and system documentation is as accurate and detailed as possible
  • Assess and implement ongoing audit and security requirements through the utilization of standard Change Management processes
  • Manage and configure network services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and IP routing configurations
  • Manage digital office phone / voice mail / IVR systems
  • Maintain efficient email, file, and printer servers
  • Work with telecom providers to ensure high availability of different type of links, such as Frame, ISDN, MPLS, X.25, as well as large volume T1 trunks
  • Provide support for the infrastructure of company’s Internet and Intranet website

Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must have a Bachelor degree or higher, preferably in Information Technology or related discipline, minimal of 7 years relevant working experience, and have the following skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and customer service skills
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and creative problem solving skills
  • Able to work under pressure, and prioritize properly to deliver multiple projects in timely manner
  • A good team leader with positive attitude
  • Current industrial certifications, i.e. MCSE, CCIE or CCNP
 Candidate must be experienced in:
  • Solid skills in Network Design (Servers, Firewalls, Protocols and Topologies) including skills with IP routing & switching, Ethernet, and WAN technologies
  • Proficient server, router and firewall administration
  • proven experience in organizing backup, recovery, performance tuning, installations, connectivity and security
  • Strong knowledge of firewall, IDS, VPN and encryption technologies and principles
  • Strong knowledge in voice and data communications technologies
  • Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 server implementation and upgrades
  • Active Directory implementation
  • Backup / Recovery technologies
  • Network services (DNS, DHCP, WINS)
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003 implementation and upgrades
  • Internetworking skills, including switching, routing, LAN and WAN
  • Firewall technologies
  • Enterprise anti-virus deployment
  • Microsoft Terminal Server, Citrix, VMware experiences
  • Desktop deployment methods
  • Spam, spyware, content filtering, white listing/black listing technologies
  • Structured project delivery methodologies
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning
