We are looking for Lead Carpenters/Site Supervisors  (Residential Construction)

 

We are seeking dynamic Lead Carpenters/Site Supervisors in Toronto and Northumberland County with extensive skills and experience in the residential construction industry. We offer opportunities for personal and professional growth.

 

Job Role and Responsibilities

  • Work within a highly capable onsite construction crew identifying and managing opportunities to achieve the best possible results for the quality, safety, schedule and financial targets of multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Directing, supervising, and supporting other carpenters, labourers, and sub-trades on site
  • Ensuring projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes while maintaining high quality workmanship and standards
  • Attend and provide input at project meetings with multiple stakeholders (clients, design teams, municipalities, sub contractors, suppliers and manufacturers)
  • Anticipate stakeholder needs and proactively identifying solutions to support ongoing projects
  • Utilize and monitor construction management software (CO-Construct/BuilderTrend) for daily tasks/goals; relevant project documentation, e.g. receipts and time clocks 
  • Coordination and management of material and resource needs inclusive of ordering, receivership, storage and protection of materials
  • Establishing and maintaining clean, organized, safe, and professional work sites

 

Experience and Qualifications 

  • 5+ years experience as a skilled carpenter within residential construction
  • Accreditation as a red seal carpenter or a higher level of education is a strong asset
  • Proficiency, versatility and strong skill set in all aspects of carpentry.
  • Solid knowledge of construction sequencing and construction assemblies, and a thorough understanding of construction methods and techniques associated with all trades and suppliers
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and Zoning By-Law and Workplace Health & Safety requirements
  • Your own set of tools (hand tools, power tools etc.) Specialty tools are provided
  • Physically able to lift heavy tools and materials
  • Experience in the preparation of detailed estimates relating to cost, quantity take-offs, purchasing, and change orders for materials and labour is an asset
  • WHMIS certificate and /or Working at Heights (WAH) certificate is an asset
  • Experience with energy efficient building technology, techniques and their applications such as Built Green or Passive House an asset
  • Able to take initiative and strategize
