POSITION: MANAGER, LABORATORY SERVICES

DEPARTMENT: LABORATORY

STATUS: FULL TIME

SALARY:  $49.21-61.26

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Vice President, the Manager, Laboratory Services is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the Laboratory including Quality Management. 

STEGH Laboratory Services include Clinical Chemistry and Point of Care testing, Hematology and Coagulation, Transfusion Medicine and Pathology.

The Manager utilizes clinical and leadership skills to ensure high quality Laboratory testing, Quality Assurance compliance and continuous improvement to support patient care testing and diagnostics.  Key accountabilities include operational management, budgeting and capital equipment planning, coordinating staffing resources, including staffing and scheduling, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a unionized environment, ensuring safety, reviewing and updating policies and procedures in accordance with Accreditation standards and creating a high performing team and positive work environment.

HOURS:

The successful candidate will work Monday – Friday (37.5 hours weekly) with a willingness to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the Hospital. This position is also required to participate in the leadership on-call rotation.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technologist Program
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in Healthcare
  • Minimum of six (6) years clinical laboratory experience
  • Knowledge and thorough understanding of IQMH requirements
  • Experience with the IQMH and Accreditation Canada process in a supervisory/leadership role preferred
  • Experience in Infection Prevention and Control standards would be an asset
  • Leadership experience in a Unionized environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, monitor, analyze and evaluate operational and capital budgets
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and evaluation, project management and change management
  • Ability to form meaningful and create established relations with our regional partners
  • Experience in a LEAN environment would be an asset
  • Demonstrated evidence-based decision making, critical thinking and problem solving
  • Demonstrated leadership, team development, and facilitation skills coupled with superior interpersonal, relationship and communication skills
  • Demonstrates STEGH values and the ability to promote values of shared leadership and inter-professional team collaboration
  • Demonstrated learning agility and commitment to professional self-development and the development of others
  • Ability to research leading practice and implement quality-based programming and seek to exceed industry benchmarks and performance metrics

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work.
