We have an immediate opening for a full- time Welder located at our facility in Calgary, Alberta and in Stettler, Alberta.
This position includes, but is not limited to: production welding, service & repair welding, prototype building, tank and fitter welding.
Multiple Positions Available:
- Apprentice Welder – Afternoon shift – Calgary, Ab
- Journeyman Welder – Afternoon shift – Calgary, Ab
- Apprentice Welder – Afternoon shift – Stettler, Ab
- Journeyman Welder – Afternoon Shift – Stettler, Ab
Responsibilities:
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding: metal cored arc welding (MCAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW)
- Operate and maintain flame-cutting and plasma arc cutting equipment
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure
- Review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques
- Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned projects
- Ensure compliance with Industry, Legislative, and corporate Safety policies and procedures
- Work without direction on complicated drawings, sketches, etc., and/or verbal instruction.
- Lays out fits and/or welds any major or minor fabrication assemblies
- Operates any and all of the weld shop equipment
- Maintains a set of tools to perform welding functions
- Assist in training and directing less trained personnel
- Recommend changes to improve quality and productions costs
- Operation of overhead crane
Qualifications:
- Must be a qualified licensed tradesman in the Province of Alberta, Interprovincial Red Seal
- or Registered Apprentice
- CWB tickets an asset
- Must have fitting experience
- Maintains a set of tools to perform welding functions
- Safety Training an asset but will train as required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills and able to work effectively in a diverse, fast-pace environment
