We are a diversified private company experiencing a period of sustainable growth.  We have established ourselves as a provider of high quality fabrication & mechanical services to industrial, marine and commercial sectors across Canada & the United States.  In addition to the Pictou fabrication shop, we operate a retail welding equipment sales and service location in Halifax, and a pressure vessel manufacturing facility in Westville.  
 

Our fabrication shop in Pictou NS has over 40 qualified welding procedures within the CWB, ASME & DNV codes. Our modern production facility combined with the strategic partnerships we have formed across Atlantic Canada ensures we can fabricate a wide variety of highly complex turnkey products to suit any project's requirements. We provide custom fabrications and replacement parts in carbon steel, aluminum & stainless grades.

Role

  • The Controller reports directly to the CFO 
  • The Controller is an integral part of the management team who
  • The Controller will support a growth inspired entrepreneurial team
  • The Controller plays a key role in the discussion, decision making and implementation of management decisions 
  • The Controller will utilize his/her solid accounting and reporting experience together with management accounting reporting experience to provide timely and accurate data to the management team 

 

Responsibility

  • Primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance functions 
  • Preparation, reporting, and analysis of all financial information 
  • Maintain and monitor regular accounting functions including bank reconciliations; GL Accounts; accounts payable; accounts receivable; payroll calculations and reporting
  • Ensure internal controls are implemented and followed
  • Government reporting and compliance
  • Information systems
  • Insurance Policies
  • Annual review and preparation of Financial Statements
  • Mentor co-workers to develop strengths and encourage professional growth
  • Quality Management for ongoing improvement for all internal business processes

 

Qualifications

  • Entrepreneurial attitude and aptitude
  • General business management experience an asset
  • Sound judgement on best practices for accounting and business management
  • Ability to analyze and utilize financial reporting to the benefit of the company
  • Analytical ability to review and report on complex and diverse data 
  • Problem solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Solid working knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Ability to delegate tasks, set expectations and monitor delegated activities
  • Management skills in planning, decision making and facilitation
  • Process Driven
  • Eligible for Controlled Goods and other Government of Canada security clearances
