POSITION LOCATION:

This position will be located in the Toronto Plant and will have a regular shift starting 11:00pm until 7:00am.  The successful candidate must be able to work the occasional overtime during week days and/or weekends throughout peak periods.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bindery Operator will work closely with the Bindery & Shipping Supervisor, the Bindery Department Team Lead, and all other production teams to ensure that production goals are met with a high standard of quality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Candidate will perform bindery duties such as folding, cutting, hole punching, coiling, and other hand work duties
  • Must have the ability to operate other bindery equipment when needed
  • General computer skills are required as the position requires some administrative responsibilities
  • Assists with other bindery operation procedures when necessary
  • Understands customer quality requirements and RRD quality specifications
  • Responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operating bindery equipment efficiently and as needed; observes machines to detect malfunctions throughout the production run
  • Detail-oriented and is able to handle high volume production
  • Troubleshoot problems to maintain quality standards and to keep finishing equipment in running condition (maintaining equipment for maximum service - cleans, lubricates and maintains assigned machine to ensure its optimum operation)
  • Examines product frequently to ensure that it meets customer quality standards and specifications
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures; and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out – tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies, and all strict Covid-19 protocols
  • Monitor of consumables and bindery supplies
  • Ability to work occasional overtime in evenings and/or weekends during peak period
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2-5 years of previous experience
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Previous experience in a printing environment is necessary
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Knowledge in all aspects of finishing quality
  • Meticulous, bondable reliable
